Platform China Contemporary Art Institution will present a solo exhibition titled "Acid Copy" by artist Feng Zhijia at its Exhibition Space B on October 13, 2024. Over a dozen new works will be showcased.
Feng Zhijia has meticulously crafted a unique painterly language. Fascinated by the arrangement of brushstrokes, he constructs intricate "copies" through sequences of light and color. These copies are derived from real-world images, objects, and scenes, yet they are not mere replicas. Employing peripheral vision to observe the world around him, Feng disrupts spatial order, introducing visual effects such as fragmentation, displacement, and double exposure. He deconstructs the focused gaze, and the sequential structures within his paintings create a sense of rotation and patterned light and shadow. The viewer is drawn into a hallucinatory atmosphere. Distorted forms and contrasting spectrums provide acidic sensory stimulation, transforming the canvas into an inner screen that reveals not the deformation of the external world but a spiritual "post-screen" landscape.
Wang Jiang has been invited to write a special commentary for this exhibition, which will run until November 10, 2024.
